A short story of punkt.de
punkt.de is a B2B software development company that has been in the industry for 23 years.
Their mission? To be helpful and honest to all clients, and give them back the value. This surely pays off. Most of their clients have been with punkt.de for more than 5 years.
The company creates complex high-level enterprise solutions for their clients. Being one of the leading TYPO3 & Neos agencies in Germany, punkt.de provides tailor-made products based on individual needs.
As Jürgen Egeling, Managing Director and Product Owner at punkt.de, states:
"Our strength is the really sharp-minded people. Even if we have never seen a specific problem, we will always find a solution. We are completely transparent in the way we work for and with our clients. The clients know exactly what we are doing, and can see on a daily basis, how much time we spent on their project."Jürgen Egeling, Managing Director and Product Owner at punkt.de
Team meetings at punkt.de needed both digital and physical boards to keep up with daily tasks. They started by using Jira in a digital way, however this was not enough to address clients’ problems efficiently and in a timely manner.
Why Agile Cards for Jira?
About 7 years ago punkt.de decided to introduce Scrum. The most efficient way to work was using ticket systems and Jira turned out to be the best solution out there. The option to extend its capabilities by adding Agile Cards for Jira made everything much easier. Jürgen Egeling’s 5-star review on Atlassian Marketplace speaks for itself:
For us Agile Cards are the missing link between the digital Jira and our daily physical life. Really can't live without it. The "icing on the cake" is a very helpful and fast hotline.Jürgen Egeling, Managing Director and Product Owner at punkt.de
How punkt.de works with clients on Agile Cards
Before getting to Agile Cards, punkt.de’s team members sit down with a client and come up with the best solution to an idea. After initial talks, punkt.de can release the first working demo and move on from there.
This first product gives ground to further elaborate and polish the whole project, so that the client receives a tailored final version.
So how does punkt.de actually use Agile Cards?
First off, during sprint planning they print Agile Cards from Jira in a desired format. At this stage it’s the A6 paper format. The template usually includes KR codes and issue descriptions. All this to make daily communication next to physical boards smoother.
The Product Owner also prints out all tickets for the day that cover a summary plus a latest comment, so the team knows what they’re working with. He makes the cards smaller – in an A7 format. This way they can address and resolve clients issues immediately. Keeping the process consistent is key here, as punkt.de believes in full transparency and reliability. Being on the market for over 20 years only proves the right direction.
Resolving clients’ issues through printed Agile Cards has one more advantage. Clients, once they get used to having daily updates, are much calmer as they know well what to expect. There’s no room for misunderstanding.
Especially since they too can use Agile Cards for their own needs. Upon face-to-face meetings, clients receive printed versions of cards. This is to, as Jürgen Egeling emphasizes, keep the focus on the right topics.
I absolutely try to avoid using a laptop or mobile phone, as this turns the attention away. Instead, I print out my third variety of Agile Cards. Those cards are printed on both sides of A6 sheets.Jürgen Egeling, Managing Director and Product Owner at punkt.de
Getting all the necessary information in a form of cards makes backlog grooming quite easy. Together with a client, he can push around the cards, mark them with different color pens, and decide on the priorities. Such process removes any noise and lets everyone fully focus on the issues.
- Motivated team that has clear guidelines on what to focus on every day.
- Satisfied clients that are staying up-to-date with work progress.
- Seamless synchronization of digital and physical boards makes punkt.de’s daily work extra efficient.
Would punkt.de recommend Agile Cards for Jira?
Without a doubt. Agile Cards for Jira have become a staple in punkt.de’s daily activities. Let the Atlassian Marketplace review do the talking:
We have used Agile Cards for ages at punkt.de in all our Jira projects. The Card designer is very easy to use, and so we designed a couple of unique layouts quick and easy for daily use. It's really nice, if you can hand out the cards in the morning daily so our developers have some quick fixes and can throw away the papers to get their daily satisfaction. As we also have physical boards in our room, we use bigger cards to fill our board (...). For us Agile Cards are the missing link between the digital Jira and our daily physical life. Really can't live without it. The "icing on the cake" is a very helpful and fast hotline.Jürgen Egeling, Managing Director and Product Owner at punkt.de
